CARLOS ALBERTO CASTRO DE ARAUJO FILHO | FATHER
Carlos Araujo, father and master to Carlos Araujo Neto, began his martial arts journey in 1988 in Manaus, Brazil. From 1988 to 1992, he trained under Master Chagas at Samurai Junto, Master Gama at the Manaus Military Police Community Center, and Master Orely Lobato at Lobos Jujitsu Club, where he earned his blue belt. In 1993, he joined the Agenor Alves Academy, training under Masters Ulisses Paixão and Faistino Neto (known as Pina), where he developed his expertise and passion for the art.
As a competitor, Carlos Araujo achieved remarkable success: 1995 Champion of the North and Northeast, two-time South American Champion, North Brazilian Champion, AJP Brazilian National Champion, two-time CBJJE Brazilian Champion, CBJJE Absolute Champion, CBJJE South American Champion, and CBJJE Pan-American Champion. He dominated as Manaus National Champion for an incredible 16 consecutive years and was named Best of the Year by the Manaus federation FAJJAM 14 times.
CARLOS ALBERTO CASTRO DE ARAUJO NETO | SON
Carlos Neto Araujo started his jiu-jitsu journey at just 4 years old, training under Master Pina and his father Carlos. He has dedicated his entire life to the art, becoming a two-time Brazilian National Champion, Pan Americas Champion, and consistently ranking in the top 10 of his division as a competitor. Following in his father’s footsteps, he achieved 10 consecutive Manaus National Championship titles and was named Best of the Year by FAJJAM 9 times. He holds the distinction of being the first child to fight under Mr. Cage and win a belt.
In 2016, Carlos Neto came to America for the first time, where he met incredible people who became an integral part of his life. These mentors helped him understand American culture and the keys to success, while he learned English and strengthened lasting relationships. He credits these friendships as the foundation that made opening his academy possible today.
ABDIAS ACADEMY MISSION
The name “Abdias” means “servant of God,” reflecting their purpose to serve people through jiu-jitsu. Their mission is to show what truly matters in life - family, relationships, and staying calm under pressure. They teach students to appreciate every moment, understanding that difficult times make us stronger and help us keep moving forward.
Carlos Neto is grateful to his masters who developed not only his jiu-jitsu skills but also his interpersonal abilities. He continues striving to be better while honoring his family and students. With the support of his friends from RPBJJ, he balances his career as both an elite athlete and business owner, feeling he’s on the right path with much more to give.
Together, this father-son team brings decades of authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu experience, championship-level competition knowledge, and a deep commitment to serving their community through the art they love.
